Singapore Post (SingPost) is Singapore’s official Public Postal licensee, and stamps can be purchased online, in paper, or digitally printed.
SingPost’s first Philatelic Store at the General Post Office (GPO) opened in October 2017 and serves as a one-stop shop for all philatelic items made by the corporation.
You can also get stamps from any of the island’s roughly 300 licensed dealers, although SingPost does not offer a comprehensive list of these sellers.
In line with this, did you know that there are two different types you can purchase in Singapore?

How many stamps to put on a letter in Singapore? – Singapore Postage Rate
As previously stated, the first local stamps are used to post mail goods weighing up to 20g within Singapore.
In line with this, mail weighing 1g to 20g will be required to bear a $0.30 stamp for ordinary or standard mail.
However, if you want mail for registered standard mail, the price will rise to $2.54 for mail weighing 1g to 20g.
Even for local mail in Singapore, a stamp is required.
If you mail without a stamp in Singapore, the Post Office (PO) will call the recipient to come down and receive the item, as well as top up the leftover postage.
As you can see, the products will not be lost if they do not have a stamp, but it may be quite inconvenient for you, especially if you are the addressee.
So, even for local mail, placing a stamp on it is still essential, and it is still your obligation and task to provide a stamp for your mail.
A single Forever stamp will be enough to deliver an item in a commercial envelope measuring 11.5 inches (29 cm) by 5 inches (13 cm) and weigh no more than 1 ounce (28 g).
Anything larger will necessitate additional postage, which you may calculate using a postage calculator.
If you want particular postage, the most convenient option is to purchase the stamps from an online supplier.
If your stamp is insufficient, keep in mind that the postman will charge the sender for the unpaid postage and surcharge cost.
If the sender is not around during the return of goods, the postman will leave a delivery advisory and the sender will be needed to reclaim the item at the PO for a period of 10 working days.
There is no simple answer to how many stamps your postal item needs because it is based on a variety of factors such as weight, size, and the location of the receiver.
You should include an extra stamp if you’re shipping square-shaped stationary or a specialized envelope.
Your envelope will not fit in automated processing equipment if it is not flat, and you will be charged extra.
But, in most instances, a single postage stamp is sufficient to ship a letter; however, this is not the case with irregularly shaped envelopes, hefty envelopes, or huge envelopes.
When shipping letters weighing more than one ounce, letters subject to the nonmachinable fee, or mailpieces subject to another rate of postage, customers must affix an extra postage stamp.
Again, the number of stamps you can use in an envelope or piece of mail will vary according to its size, weight, and recipient’s location.
Can old stamps be used in Singapore? – Singapore Postage Rate
As long as they can be verified as being valid postage, these stamps are good indefinitely.
This implies that if you use tape to attach an old, worn-out stamp to a letter, it will probably not be accepted.
So you can plant an old stamp on your mail, provided it is clean and adheres.
SingPost, Singapore’s leading provider of domestic and international postal services, announced that new stamps will not be required whether you’re mailing a letter or any goods.
Meaning, Singaporeans can still use the existing No-Value Indicator (NVI) 1st local stamps.
For unique and latest collections, you can definitely buy stamps from SingPost’s online store.
Aside from SingPost’s online store, there are still other shops that sell postage stamps in Singapore like your neighborhood stationery shop or 7-11.
Otherwise head to the nearest SAM kiosk to buy a digitally printed stamp.
Collecting postage stamps is a fun hobby for all ages.
